The Manziel case grows weirder by the second.
Yesterday, we heard the details behind Manziel’s alleged assault of his girlfriend, Colleen Crowley, but the Dallas PD closed the investigation without much explanation. Earlier today a judge decided to issue an order that keeps Manziel from seeing his girlfriend for at least 2 years.
Now we have reports of the Dallas PD re-opening their domestic violence case at the request of Crowley. She’s made it clear that she’d like to press charges against the Cleveland Browns QB and with the bevy of media attention the police can no longer ignore the situation.
Following yesterday’s release, today the Dallas Police Department received a complaint of a domestic violence assault that occurred in Dallas on January 30, 2016. A criminal investigation into the incident, in which Johnathan Manziel is the listed suspect, has been initiated. Detectives will thoroughly investigate the case to determine what criminal charges, if any, will be filed and victim services will be offered.
As there are many emotional factors involved, it is not uncommon for a victim of domestic violence to question or delay reporting an assault. This is an on-going investigation and updates will be made as information becomes available.
Johnny’s life has been spiralling downward today despite his family and the Browns organization trying to help him. It feels like this will be an ugly ending for Manziel and it’ll probably cost him his NFL career.
