Who knew a quality speech could turn into a cable movie.
Kevin Durant called his mom — Wanda Pratt — “The Real MVP” during his emotional speech while accepting the NBA MVP award back in 2014.
It looked like a scene straight out of a movie — and now it actually will be.
I can never thank my mom enough for all she's done and sacrificed. See it all in #TheRealMVP: The Wanda Pratt Story coming to @lifetimetv
— Kevin Durant (@KDTrey5) February 3, 2016
Now, Lifetime — with Queen Latifah producing — is making a movie based on Pratt’s life. The title of the film, The Real MVP: The Wanda Pratt Story, should be epic.
the Lifetime original movie will “tell the true story of Pratt, a single mom who struggled and sacrificed to raise her two sons, Tony and Kevin.” If you are hoping to see Durant and Pratt star in the film, you’re out of luck. Actress Cassandra Freeman and actor Daniel Bellomy have been cast in the mother and son roles, respectively. Nic Few will play the part of Kevin’s brother, Tony.
