Joe Rogan is the voice of the UFC during PPVs but he doesn’t play the corporate angle when giving his opinion on fights, fighters and the overall business.

Rogan stumbled on the topic of CM Punk & his future in the UFC during his latest podcast and lets just say Rogan wasn’t very optimistic about Punk’s talents in the octagon.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen with that guy. I don’t understand this whole thing,” Rogan said, via Newsweek. “I also think it’s ridiculous for him to fight in the UFC. I think he should fight in a small organization. Take a fight in a small organization, build yourself up. I have always said that’s what should have happened with Brock Lesnar.”

Rogan is spot on about Punk. The UFC calling his impending fight a debut is an injustice to the rest of the roster. Dana White has signed an entry-level MMA fighter to fight Punk on the grand stage instead of allowing a declining veteran to challenge Punk.

A declining veteran would’ve given Punk credibility, a win over a UFC newcomer does nothing but make Punk seem like a side-show.

Brock Lesnar may have been rushed into the octagon but at least he had to fight legit UFC competition and in the long run it helped him grow as a fighter. CM Punk isn’t in the UFC for that goal, he’s there to have a hobby during his WWE retirement and collect a pay check.
