Jon Jones has spent the past 2 years in and out of trouble with the UFC and the law. This latest brush in the law pales in comparison to his last but Jones still make national news because of it.
KRQENews 13 is reporting that Jones will be in court on Wednesday for a traffic citation given to him for driving without a license, insurance and registration on January 30th.
Fox Sports’ Damon Martin reached out to the District Attorney to get the details behind the Jones arrest?
“Our office has the discretion to pursue a revocation of probation if an alleged incident arises to the level of a substantial violation of probation,” said Kayla Anderson, a public information officer of the Second Judicial District Attorney’s office. She continued, “as of today, we do not have enough information about the 1/31/16 incident to make that determination, but we will examine the matter.”
Jones will fight Daniel Cormier for the UFC light heavyweight title on April 23rd at UFC 197 and a probation violation would put that fight in serious jeopardy. The silver lining behind this arrest is that Jones was not cited for any drugs or alcohol violations, which would’ve put his career in danger.
These traffic violations shouldn’t be enough to revoke his probation.
