NBA commissioner, Adam Silver, announced today that Lisa Borders is now the new WNBA President.
Borders brings more than 25 years of experience to the position, according to the WNBA. Borders has received her bachelors degree from Duke University and a masters degree in health administration from the University of Colorado. She’s worked in operations, marketing, government relations and public service. Borders was very influential to bringing the WNBA to Atlanta and the Atlanta Dream continue to be a huge part of their community. She served most recently on the Chair of The Coca-Cola Foundation and Vice President of Global Community Affairs at The Coca-Cola Company.
In a statement from Silver, he says:
As a proven executive with a passion for the WNBA and the game of basketball, Lisa is the right leader at a pivotal time in the league’s history. She will be responsible for spearheading our efforts to strengthen the WNBA and accelerate its growth.
