Nate Diaz
Let the trash talking begin!
One half of the Stockton Bros, Nate Diaz, put on a great showing in his last fight against Michael Johnson. His mix of boxing skills and showmanship proved why Diaz is one of the bets lightweight draws in the UFC. He taunts opponents for running, much like McGregor, and isn’t scared to stand in the center of the octagon.
With only 10 days until the fight the UFC must take into account the promotional aspect of the bout. Dos Anjos didn’t do much in terms of building the fight, with Conor that’s not something that’s needed, but in Diaz there’d be an equal to McGregor on the mic.
Diaz has had trouble making weight before but the two are the closest in weight at this time. During Diaz’s fight against Dos Anjos he was given a 160lb catch weight and that was enough to make it happen, I expect the same if he lands the McGregor fight.
With Nate Diaz it’s possible that UFC 196 will be an even bigger event than before, his California fan base will travel better than any of RDA’s fans, and McGregor has most stylistically appealing fight since Dustin Poirier.
