Everyone wants a ‘Red Panty Night!’
The latest person to say they’d welcome a fight against Mr. McGregor is former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva.
The 40-year-old fighter lost his last fight to Michael Bisping, despite having him KO’d at the end of the 3rd round, and is looking to add a few more big fights to his resume before calling it quits.
There’s no bigger name in the sport than Conor McGregor.
“The challenge that I would like to have in my career would be cut down in weight and fight McGregor.”
“I’d have to talk to Giovani [UFC GM] about which weight we can do this fight at, but it’s a challenge I would like. He offers me a big challenge, something I’m looking for in my martial knowledge right now.”
It’s easy to assume that Anderson wants the huge pay check that comes with a McGregor fight but Anderson insist that’s not the case.
“His fighting style. He’s an eclectic, versatile athlete, and I believe his game can surprise many people, like it did already. I think he’s a great fighter and a smart man.”
Realistically, this fight has very little chance of happening. Conor struggled at 170 lbs and had to eat everything he could to get up to 168 lbs for that fight. Silva’s frame wouldn’t allow him to cut low enough to reach a fair 175 lb catch-weight, so this is nothing more than a pipe dream for UFC fans to latch onto.
