36-year old Baron Davis isn’t ready to call it a career quite yet. His attempt to return to the NBA hardwood has reached a small milestone. The Vertical reports:
Former NBA All-Star Baron Davis is expected to sign with thePhiladelphia 76ers‘ NBA Development League affiliate in Delaware, league sources told The Vertical…No D-League team had signed Davis until he planned to join Delaware, which has lost guards Jordan McRae (Cleveland) andSean Kilpatrick (Brooklyn) to NBA call-ups. As long as Davis reports in shape, Delaware will move forward with the signing, sources said. Davis is expected to debut for Delaware in Friday’s home game against Iowa, sources said.
Back in the summer, the Drew League dropped in on the Seattle Pro-Am for a friendly that featured Baron Davis. If you haven’t checked out the incredible things that happen at Jamal Crawford’s Pro-Am, you’re missing out.
He played some great ‘old man’ basketball. He wasn’t quick or athletic, but he had all of the fundamentals and brains to trip defenders up. It will be great to his progression since the summer time and see if his journey ends in the NBA.
