New York Knicks rookie sensation Kristaps Porzingis was obviously highly sought after before the NBA Draft, but many questioned the pick from Phil Jackson at the time.
Although Porzingis was a ‘can’t miss’ prospect to Phil, there were a few division II programs who tried to lure the Latvian star in.
“It was funny, I received like two or three offers. It was a coach [reaching out to me], writing, ‘I want you play for us, we’re Division II.'”
You have to admire the effort, but there was no way Porzingis was going to a division II school.
