I don’t know if we can call Hue Jackson the “quarterback whisperer” — but he’s definitely a guy that landed the Browns head coaching job because of his ability to get the most out of his signal callers.
Jackson spent two seasons as the Cincinnati Bengals’ offensive coordinator — helping Andy Dalton post the best offensive numbers of his five-year career.
Jackson’s prowess for developing signal callers could bold well for RG3’s chances of landing in Cleveland. According to PFT — the Browns have started to make some calls around the league — hoping to learn more about the former No. 2 overall pick.
A source with knowledge of the situation tells PFT that the Browns are making calls to people who know Griffin to find out who may know more about the player and, specifically, his character. (That could make for an awkward conversation if the Browns call former Cleveland offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan, who was Griffin’s first offensive coordinator in the NFL and who spent a season in Cleveland that ended under unusual circumstances.)
The Browns are currently still seriously interested in acquiring Colin Kaepernick, and reports suggest that the interest in Griffin III is just a ploy.
