After Cleanthony Early left a strip club with his IG model girlfriend Lilana Douge, their uber was surrounded and he was robbed by thugs of his iPhone, gold chains and even his gold teeth.
To add insult to injury he was shot in the knee.
Police cleared the Uber driver in the set up, but not the girlfriend, but she denies being involved. Early amazingly will play again before the season is over.
Early was among the 12 active players on the Knicks roster against the Kings on Sunday, representing his first availability for an NBA game since he was shot during a robbery outside of a Queens strip club on Dec. 30.
Early did not require surgery and was back quickly in the Knicks practice facility, if only at a limited capacity as the wound healed. Rambis said Early has also had to clear mental hurdles.
“He’s had to go through the mental trauma of the situation,” Rambis said. “ And anytime you go through an injury there’s the physical recovery but then there’s also the mental recovery where you learn to trust whatever was injured before so you don’t think when you’re out there playing. You learn to plant on it again, feel that it’s strong and healthy. He’s gone through both of those things.”
He is extremely lucky.
