The Denver Broncos could have had Robert Griffin III signed weeks ago, but decided on a trade for the Eagles Mark Sanchez instead.
John Elway’s preference for Sanchez over RG3 spoke volumes to some, and now via a report from Mike Klis, the former Redskins “character” was seriously questioned by Broncos brass.
“But after making a few phone calls, Elway was concerned about Griffin’s character. Elway never did express interest in the former Washington quarterback who was the NFL’s Rookie of the Year in 2012 but had several fallouts with Coach Mike Shanahan, offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan and teammates.”
Did Elway make a few phone calls, or just one?
The elephant in the room of course, was Mike Shanahan, head coach to both John Elway and Gary Kubiak during their time together in Denver.
It appears the ghost from Redskins past bit RG3 again.
