Jeremy Lin took the NBA by storm back in 2012 when he played on the New York Knicks, beginning the “Linsanity” craze. Things have trickled down since then, but Lin has been on a tear as of late, balling out for the Charlotte Hornets as they look to make noise in the playoffs this year.
With being one of the few Asian players in the league and its history, Lin has dealt with a lot of security and guards stopping him because of his ethnicity. As he tells ESPN, it happened to him recently but now he is used to it.
“It’s one of those things where it literally happens everywhere.
“At opposing arenas, it happens all the time. Just the other night in Brooklyn, I was trying to leave (Barclays Center) and one of the ladies was like, ‘Hey, I need your credentials for you to pass.’ And then someone else was like, ‘Oh, he’s a player. He’s good.’ I’m used to it by now. It’s just part of being Asian in the NBA.”
