New year, same old Jon Jones.
Since his suspension last May, Jon Jones has done numerous public apologies and a very lengthy “I’ve learned from my mistakes” interview with MMAfighting.com but here we are 4 weeks from his UFC 197 title fight and he’s had another run in with the law.
TMZ Sports spoke with the Albuquerque PD — and a rep told us Jones was pulled over late Thursday night/early Friday morning for drag racing.
He was issued 5 citations — the main was for drag racing. The other 4 citations were for “equipment issues” including a modified exhaust and an “issue” with his license plate.
Jones discussed the incident on The MMA Hour today:
It’s hard to debate Jon’s standing as the greatest fighter in the world but believing he’s a changed man is a different story.
Jon has a feeling of invincibility that’s proving harder to kick than any drug habit. He keeps finding new ways to test his power over society. Whether it was something small like driving without a license last month or a potentially dangerous late night drag racing session, Jon will always be Jon.
Jon needs to turn things around before he ends up on the wrong end of his probation.
