Conor McGregor shocked the MMA world by declaring his retirement from the UFC earlier today. It turns out that conflicts between UFC president Dana White and McGregor led to his frustrated tweet.
Dana White explained that McGregor’s defiance of basic UFC protocol led from him being removed from UFC 200 and McGregor’s ensuing tweet was a reaction to his removal. White wouldn’t confirm whether McGregor is expected to fight again after this fiasco but he did say that they’re looking to add two fights to the UFC 200 card to fill the void.
We went one better and provided Dana with 3 possible UFC main events to fill the hole left by Conor McGregor.
1. Ronda Rousey vs Miesha Tate
The internet filled with rumors of a Ronda Rousey vs Holly Holm rematch as soon as Dana White announced the removal of Conor McGregor but it’d be much more worthwhile for Ronda to rush back for a title shot against someone she’s already beaten twice.
Holm would then fight Amanda Nunes for the #1 contender spot. The winners of these two fights would meet in NYC at UFC 205. The best case scenario would be Ronda meeting Holm again for the title.
