Boyz II Men singer Shawn Stockman can relate to a lot of former Eagles players in their disdain for Chip Kelly.
Stockman spoke a lot about Kelly not being a players coach- meaning he treats his players like robots and that doesn’t work in the NFL.
In college, yes, you’re dealing with kids in school who felt lucky to put on those fancy Oregon uniforms and would do anything to get that Kelly bump into the NFL. The structure is set and turns over every 4 years (at least) and in that system, Kelly proved he could hang with the best of them.
In the NFL, it’s not so black and white. There needs to be some sort of empathy and graciousness for the people you’re working with. It’s not something just an NFL coach should have, it’s a basic life skill that is underdeveloped in a lot of people.
