The NFL loves engaging in confrontation with its players! According to Daniel Kaplan of SportsBusiness Journal the Dallas quarterback’s National Fantasy Football Convention filed paperwork in court on Wednesday claiming that the NFL is harassing event sponsors.
In the documents the lawyers claim that the NFL has issued subpoenas to 13 sponsors looking for information about each company’s role in the 2015 convention that was cancelled after the NFL allegedly forced players and league employees to back out because the convention was scheduled to occur at a facility in Las Vegas owned by a casino.
Yeah, I’m sure the NFL was “concerned” about the casino affiliation that’s why they forced the cancellation of the 2015 event. Sounds like more bullying and big brother tactics by a league that is determined to micromanage and control every single thing that has even a fringe association. If the NFL can’t figure out a way to get paid or profit from this convention then it’ll make sure it doesn’t happen.
As of the writing of this post, Romo’s convention has secured a temporary restraining order against the NFL. Stay tuned, I have a feeling this is going to get better.
