Darren Collison has emerged as a candidate the Knicks may want to trade for this offseason. The Knicks don’t necessarily have a ton to give, but their cap space allows them to absorb large contracts, an asset in itself. More from ESPN:
The Knicks, of course, aren’t limited to chasing players on the free-agent market. Their available cap space would allow them to absorb contracts via trade as well.
The trade route is an option that had been discussed among members of the front office late in the season, per sources with knowledge of the talks; one player some in the organization are fond of is Darren Collison, who backed up Rondo in Sacramento this year, sources say.
Collison has always seemed to work best as a second option, backing up Chris Paul with the Hornets and Clippers, and now Rajon Rondo with the Kings. That doesn’t mean he isn’t a good player- he can shoot, attack the basket, pass naturally, and defend on the other side.
The biggest question may be whether or not the Kings would be willing to give him up.
