Overall I think the Dallas Cowboys had a solid plan that they executed well during the draft. I would give them a B+ grade which could easily improve to an A if Jaylon Smith knee heals properly and he’s able to give them something on the field. They drafted several guys that have a lot of potential going forward. One guy on the team’s radar that ended up being out of reach was former Memphis quarterback Paxton Lynch. According to BleacherReport.com, Jerry didn’t get much sleep last night after losing out in a bidding war with the Denver Broncos for Lynch.
“When I look back on my life, I overpaid for my big successes every time, And when I tried to get a bargain, get it a little cheaper or get a better deal on it, I ended up usually either getting it and not happy I got it. Or missing it. And I probably should have overpaid here.”
Jerry added that he only got 3 hours of sleep and even voiced his disappointments to 6 people this morning. Now that the draft has ended, Jerry does feel a little better and should rest easy after landing his backup plan in Dak Prescott.
“I see a heady player in Prescott. I see a very heady player. I see an intelligent player. I see a player that has a chance to add some to his game that isn’t just a prototype fit for this offense. You may have to put some bells and whistles in there. I like has upside here. Coming in here and learning from Tony I think is big.”
Jerry is right, Dak brings something different to the field. Paxton Lynch is a lot more ready and polished in my eyes but with hard work, some grooming and dedication, Dak Prescott could be Romo’s replacement in a few years.
