Ever since Robert Griffin III has left Washington, things have looked up for up for the former 2012 Rookie of the year. Well, until today this report came in.
According to Pat McManamon of ESPN, the Brown have remained adamant with their claims that RGIII will still have to fight for the vacant QB position. Here’s a quote from vice president and football operations, Sasha Brown on the situation:
We have Connor (Shaw) and Austin (Davis) and Josh (McCown) here competing along with Robert and that’s what we want to provide, which is competition at that position.
“We won’t be panicked. We feel those guys are going to compete their butts off, get into the system and we’ll evaluate it as time bears out.”
The Browns signed RG3 because they feel that he isn’t as big of a reclamation project as others believe. But, they don’t want to have the same problems that the Redskins had about miscommunication so they are letting the world know nothing will be handed to him.
Make no mistake though, they believe that RG3 is the quarterback that will be leading them in Week 1. Meaning that RG3 would only have himself to blame if he isn’t the starter. He will be presented with every opportunity to win the job and it isn’t like he is competing against Tom Brady.
If he can’t beat out Josh McCown and Austin Davis, he might as well retire now.
