Rougned Odor’s punch on Jose Bautista was heard round the world. It even got him some free barbecue for life but now that food may be threatened since the owner of the restaurant is being threatened by Blue Jays fans.
The Blue Jays and the Rangers will not face each other again this year unless they face each other in the playoffs, which would absolutely glorious. Ever since the infamous bench clearing match, a lot has happened besides the 8-game suspension that Rougned Odor was given. One restaurant in Texas, Fort Worth Heim Barbecue, is now getting harassed by Blue Jays fans all over some free barbecue.
“We just thought it would be a funny thing if we offered Rougie free food because he wasn’t the only one who wanted to punch Bautista after last year, so you know, it’s kind of a justice, a little bit,” Heim told NBC 5 last week.
Heim said that’s he’s going to have to change his business number following the deluge of nasty calls to the personal cell phone he’s been using for the barbecue joint, the Observer reported.
“Well, we did make a funny shirt, so it’s understandable that people would want to ‘murder my whole family’ in response,” Heim told the Observer. “I guess this is just the cost of going ‘viral.’ “
As an avid fan of BBQ sauce, I’m going to need Blue Jays fans to take a chill pill on this one. Sending threats to a restaurant doesn’t make you any better than the punch laid upon Bautista. If anything, sending threats is little worse than punching a man in the face.
