The internet has forever changed the way we do business. It’s a gift on its best days and a curse on its worst. For Atlanta Braves Manager Fredi Gonzalez, the information super highway is losing big time this week.
According to a story by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Gonzalez discovered he was being terminated from his position when he mistakenly received a flight schedule, via email, returning him back to Atlanta. A flight home isn’t a bad thing, unless your team has three additional games remaining on the road.
Following the news, Gonzalez told reporters,
I don’t think there’s a perfect time to do it. I think you do it when they feel like the time is right, so they did it.
The Braves are currently 9-29, their worst start in franchise history, leading the powers-that-be to pull off the bandaid early. At least he wasn’t fired for stealing cardboard boxes on his day off.
