The BSO music showcase is back in full affect and today I’m presenting New Jersey’s very own “THEFAME”.
This artist takes you into a tunnel of darkness with a glimmer of light shining bright at the end.
After listening to THEFAME’s “Pornography” project, I was sold.
Nowadays, it seems like all the ‘hot’ artists out sound the same, but not THEFAME. His combination of deep lyrics, flow and production set him apart from the rest.
In the midst of his ‘glo up’, ‘THEFAME’ was able to answer a few questions.
Tell the fans three things about you that they should know
Well, first off I have a lot of love for all of the fans and everyone supporting me/the sound..more than they think. I’ve never recorded in a real studio or even a professional home studio, just off my Mac & my favorite food is Mac & Cheese haha.
People know New Jersey exist for obvious reasons, but people not on the east coast won’t truly know the vibe of growing up there. How did your hometown influence you musically, if it all?
The vibe of New Jersey is awesome, so much different energy in every city. Musically, my parents were the ones to really influence me while in Jersey. They would always play old records by MJ, Al Green, Marvin Gaye, Sly & The Family Stone, Stevie Wonder..all of the greats. But when they started me off on the piano and in band classes at school, I really started to enjoy making music.
After listening to your “Pornography” project, it gave me a very dark feel. What was your mindset heading into this?
During Pornography I was going through a very dark time emotionally. From not knowing if I’m experiencing true love or not to trying to figure out if I still want to make music. I felt I needed that project to get out a lot of pain that has been building up for many years. It helped a lot & I feel a lil’ reborn, that’s what B A D G I R L S is pretty much…a short synopsis of my emotional rebirth.
There’s plenty of rappers out there, but only a few actually take the proper steps to put themselves in position to be successful. From afar, it appears you’re doing the right things. How did you develop this mindset?
I did so much personal research on how to successfully promote yourself or your brand. There’s so much more I need to work on and get right but I think I’m on the right track. Also, I have to thank my loved ones for teaching me what I know & the most important thing to have…patience.
With 2016 nearly halfway through, what can the fans looking forward to for the rest of the year?
For the rest of the year I really just want to work on promoting B A D G I R L S & PORNOGRAPHY more and hopefully establish a US tour very soon. I want to reach out to everyone that supports me and just spread love to everyone ya know? Wouldn’t be as far as I am without them all. & thank you for taking the time to interview me really, this is my first ever interview and this means a lot.
THEFAME is clearly a bright individual and he’s a hard worker.
Don’t believe me?
Well, how about if I told you he just dropped a NEW EP entitled “B A D G I R L S”
Trust me when I tell you it’s HEAT!
