Who whole situation around the death of former New Orleans Saints defensive end Will Smith is sad and could have been prevented. Smith was shot and killed after an altercation from a fender bender back in April. More details have been released and according to SI.com, Smith’s blood alcohol level was much higher than the legal limit.
Smith, who was shot 8 times, had a blood alcohol level of 0.24% which is almost three times the legal limit in Louisiana of 0.08%.
Smith’s wife, who was also shot twice in her leg, survived. Cardell Hayes, former football player and alleged shooter, pleaded not guiltily after being indicted on charges of second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder.
