The Sam Bradford soap opera has taken another twist. The former #1 overall selection who recently demanded a trade reportedly will return to the Philadelphia Eagles voluntary workouts, according to teammate Connor Barwin, who was on 94WIP Morning Show, in Philadelphia.
Bradford gave a statement upon returning to the field:
“I’m excited to be back on the field today with my teammates and coaches. The business side of football is sometimes a necessary consideration. My attention and efforts are focused on the participation in and preparation for a championship season. I am committed to my teammates and the Eagles organization for nothing less.”
Basically, Bradford is letting everyone know that he’s back– for the time being. It was just a couple of days ago when he wouldn’t even answer the phone when management tried to call him. But now, he’s all in.
The key to all of this is that the media usually doesn’t attend these voluntary workouts. The OTAs scheduled for May 17th will have media in attendance. I have to wonder aloud if Bradford will be on hand for that round of workouts.
I sure hope that #2 overall pick Carson Wentz is paying attention to how all of this plays out. Because this situation could very well be him in a few years.
