I wish I had the words for what’s going on in this world. I can’t seem to wrap my head around people who can’t get along and accept people for who they are; Why something you can’t control like your skin-tone or being born of a certain ethnicity can get you killed.
It seems as of late people have become brave in their hatred and decided that they no longer want to mask who they truly are. Thinking that freedom of speech can’t cost you your livelihood, idiots have displayed their ignorance via different social media platforms, the most popular being Facebook. The recent racist rant would be by Facebook user, Christine McMullen Lindgren. While we don’t know what conversation Christine was responding to, it made her incredibly mad to the point she couldn’t even use structure her sentences.
Christine couldn’t have thought this through because in her bio, she had her place of employment which happened to be Bank Of America. Social media backfired on Christine and people used their influence to contact BoA to make sure they were aware they had an employee that had these horrible views of African Americans. Bank of America did not disappoint. They responded almost immediately and terminated Christine without hesitation. Thursday, June 2nd at 1pm, BoA released the following statements via The Atlanta Journal-Constitution,
Andy Aldridge, a senior vice president and communications manager for the bank, confirmed that Lindgren had worked at the bank and that the comments were “reprehensible and unacceptable.”
“We have investigated the matter and terminated her,” Aldridge said. “She no longer works for Bank of America.”
Aldridge would not say what Lindgren or what specific branch she worked at, other than in “Metro Atlanta.”
Aldridge said the bank even took the unprecedented step of announcing and confirming Lindgren’s firing on their Twitter account and, yes, Facebook page.
This isn’t the first time social media cost someone their job. You would think racist would be a tad smarter about their hate, but then again can’t hide ignorance.
