Gregory Cheadle wants you all to know that he is NOT a supporter of Donald Trump.
During a rally in California last Friday, Cheadle was spotted by Trump and singled out as the presidential hopeful was discussing the actions of an African American supporter at a previous gathering. Trump pointed at Cheadle and said:
“Look at my African-American over here! Look at him!” Trump said. “Are you the greatest? You know what I’m talking about, OK?”
Cheadle, a Republican candidate in a California congressional race, said that he went to hear the NY businessman because he has an open mind; not because he backs him. He goes on to say that he was simply using his “Veterans For Trump” sign to block the sun. Cheadle took no offense to Trump’s acknowledgement as he “had been speaking positively about black people prior to that statement.” Cheadle tells NPR News that the whole incident was “jovial”.
Many are taking offense to Trump’s use of “my” when referring to Cheadle as if he were a possession. With Trump’s inflammatory and insensitive remarks made thus far, how can one NOT be offended?
