The Golden State Warriors were not able to close out their second straight NBA title on Monday night.
Draymond Green was noticeably absent as he served a one-game suspension for a flagrant foul against LeBron James. However, the Warriors would still be without one of their impact players for tonight’s Game 6 if the Cavaliers had their way.
During an episode of The Low Post, ESPN’s Zach Lowe reported that the Cavs were pushing for Green to be hit with a flagrant-2 foul which would have yielded a two-game suspension.
Upon review of the controversial play after the game, the NBA hit Green with a flagrant-1 and James with a technical foul for their actions. When announcing the punishment, NBA Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Kiki VanDeWeghe stated that it wasn’t Green’s Game 4 actions alone that warranted the punishment. The number of flagrant points he earned triggered the Game 5 suspension.
With Green back in the lineup, the Warriors look to close out the series tonight on the Cav’s homecourt and return to the Bay with their second straight world championship.
