Today, the sports world lost two legends. The great defensive coordinator and head coach, Buddy Ryan and the legendary along with revolutionary Pat Summitt.
Summitt’s death has truly rocked the sports and basketball world. She’s women’s basketball. She gave everything to Tennessee/women’s basketball and in return she got to see the game evolve.
Her greatest rival and current Uconn head coach, Geno Auriemma said, “Lots of people coach the game, but very few get to define the game.”
So many greats have come out and said wonderful things about Pat Summitt including Peyton Manning, Pat Riley, Dwyane Wade, Coach K, President Obama, Hillary Clinton, etc.
The outpouring of respect shows how much she meant to Tennessee, women’s basketball, basketball, sports and people in general.
The AP reports that there will be a celebration of life service held on July 14th. A representative of the family said the event will begin at 7 p.m. at Thompson-Boling Arena on the University of Tennessee campus.
RIP Pat Summitt.
