Skip Bayless will soon be departing First Take and details are surfacing on who his replacement might be. According to the Big Lead, ESPN has narrowed down Skip’s replacement to three finalists, so let’s take a look at each candidate.
Finalist #1 – Max Kellerman
Max Kellerman is well known for his work with HBO Boxing, SportsNation, and his local radio show, and he appears to be the front-runner for the position. According to the Big Lead, Kellerman is management’s first choice and the job is basically his to turn down. Kellerman may be a good fit for the debate-stlye show, as he is not a stranger to controversy. Back in 2014, Kellerman was briefly suspended by ESPN for admitting on SportsNation that he struck his girlfriend now current wife, during an argument. The revelation came while having a discussion about the Ray Rice domestic violence incident and many were shocked by his candor. Additionally, there were some tense moments between Kellerman and Marcelus Wiley when he first joined SportsNation, so he is clearly not shy about debating controversial topics. He is also known for asking tough questions in post fight interviews for HBO Boxing, so his in your face style is reminiscent of what you get from Skip Bayless.
