The Warriors are still in shock from blowing a 3-1 lead against the Cavs, and are ready to create a super-team according to ESPN’s Mark Stein.
Sources have told Stein that the Warriors devastating loss in the NBA Finals increases their chances of persuading Durant to leave Oklahoma City. Warriors owner Joe Lacob also had this post Game 7 quote on their pursuit of Durant:
“All I can say is I will be very aggressive.”
This makes sense on some levels as Durant could envision himself as the missing piece that would make the Warriors virtually unbeatable for the near future. Imagine Durant instead of Barnes taking wide open corner threes, deadly.
On the other hand, the Warriors would have to dismantle the core of their team in order make enough cap space to sign Durant, but Durant should be able to cover up any roster deficiencies with his stellar play.
If the Warriors are able to convince Durant to join Steph and Klay next season, the rest of the NBA will not be able to stop them.
