Arnold Black, the East Cleveland resident that was beaten by a drunken cop and left for dead in a closet for four days will be compensated handsomely for his ordeal. According to the New York Daily News Black has been awarded $22 million dollars by Cuyahoga County jury.
Black was wrongfully arrested in 2012 when officers confused his car for that of a suspected drug dealer. According to lawsuit, one of the officers smelled of alcohol and repeatedly punched Black before taking him to jail and detaining him in a closet for days without access to food, water or a rest room. To add insult to injury, a grand jury indicted Black on cocaine charges despite lack of evidence but the case was later dropped. Black’s lawsuit followed in 2014.
