According to the San Jose Mercury News, following the Warriors epic comeback over the Thunder in the Western Conference Finals, Steph told KD the following:
This is what it’s all about. This is what we play for. Those battles, those moments people will remember for a long time.
True enough Steph, true enough. But, you also play for championships. Something he and his Warriors will get a chance to do beginning Thursday evening versus the Cavs. While KD, has to wait another year and wonder, will it ever happen? And, where is the best place for me to try and make it happen?
On Monday night, the Dubs completed their comeback and won their third straight game against the Thunder in the deciding game 7 of the Western Conference Finals. This playoff series will go down as one of the best in recent memory and when it’s all said and done will rank as an all time conference finals.
In the moments immediately following the final buzzer it’s always great theatre to see the contrast in emotion from the winning and losing side. It’s also an interesting study in psychology to see the competitors congratulate each other and give mutual respect for competing at the highest level. Losing a series like this is very difficult and watching the other team celebrate has to feel like salt in a fresh wound. But, no matter, Steph and KD let each other know, game recognize game.
