Bud Crawford is all business.
I spoke to him twice this week before his upcoming fight against Viktor Postol and his message was the same, that he plans on doing his talking to the ring.
When I asked him if it is hard not to look ahead to a potential Manny Pacquiao fight he said, “I am fighting Postol not Pacquiao.”
When I asked about does he feel the pressure of promoting his first headlining Vegas fight he simply said “my promotors do the promoting my job is to do the fighting.”
While Crawford is focused there is a lot on the line. Even though Vegas has Postol as a big underdog, he is no pushover and as Postol told me he plans to use his height, reach and jab advantage to slow down Crawford’s offense.
Crawford is aware of those disadvantages but says he has a good gameplan to negate them.
The sky is the limit for Crawford, especially with a potential fight against Pacquiao looming in the winter.
For all great fighters, there are fights against really good opponents they have to navigate before they get their megafight that launches them to superstardom.
This is that fight for Crawford.
How will he respond to that? We will see tonight, but he has a message for all the PPV buyers.
