Oklahoma State suffered some of the worst news that any university would ever want to hear. Tyrek Coger, a member of the men’s basketball team collapsed after a team workout Thursday afternoon. According to A.J. Perez of the USA Today Coger was transported to Stillwater Medical center where he was pronounced dead at 6:23 p.m. Oklahoma State men’s coach Brad Underwood released the following statement.
“Tyrek was excited to be at Oklahoma State and had such passion for the game and was looking forward to being an OSU Cowboy. Losing a member of the team is like losing a member of the family. But we know our loss pales in comparison to the pain his family is going through.”
Coger was a junior college transfer from Raleigh N.C. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family and to the university.
