Rudy Gay says he has no idea what the Sacramento Kings are doing. Welcome to the club! Gay sat down with Sactown Royalty’s Blake Ellington for an interview, where he discussed the Kings and his feelings about the franchise. When asked about the team’s direction, Gay said:
I have no idea. I suit up and give it my all. That’s all I can do in this situation, that’s all you can do. Go out there and play as much as you can. Obviously, we don’t have anything to really build on. We have a new coach. I think that’s the only thing we can really build on. New coach and seeing how it plays out.
Ouch, scathing! You can’t blame Gay, the Kings are widely considered the worst run franchise in the entire NBA. You know the stories about Kings owner Vivek Ranadive, who once espoused the merits of a 4 on 5 defense. Plus, who could forget his infatuation with Nik Stauskas (who is no longer on the team) during the 2014 NBA Draft. Not to mention the revolving door of head coaches.
Gay is right to voice his opinions and frustrations. At this stage, his best bet is that the franchise, in their continued state of confusion, trades him.
