Antonio Cromartie’s first baby mama Rosemita Pierre was owed $4k in child support from January, but Cromartie didn’t make the payment.
A judge issued an arrest warrant and Cromartie promptly made the payment according to TMZ.
It just happened to be a coincidence that all this happened as Cromartie was signing a 1-year-deal with the Colts.
According to sources close to the situation, Cromartie didn’t pay had nothing to do with his finances, but because he believes Pierre is an unfit mother.
Cromartie had custody of his oldest child for multiple years while the mother was MIA and having some problems with the law. Cromartie’s son is now back in the mother’s custody and that is when the child support of $4k was issued.
Cromartie is fighting the judgment and trying to get custody of Alonzo.
Here is a statement from Cromartie’s publicist.
Antonio Cromartie was granted custody of his son in 2009 because of the abuse that was taking place while in his mother’s care, as she was missing and in and out of jail for three years.
In January of 2016, a judge deemed her fit to finally resume her guardianship and she was awarded make up time and regained custody. Mr. Cromartie refused to pay support because he thought the mother of his child would not use the support appropriately and he felt his son would be safer with him. Mr. Cromartie has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to appeal this decision and refused to pay in order to fight for the safety of his son. Mr. Cromartie has never neglected to provide for his son and never will.
