The drug Flakka is believed to be the leading cause in a double-murder/cannibalism incident involving a Florida State University student and a married couple.
According to CBSNews.com, 19 year old Austin Harrouff stabbed John Joseph Stevens III and Michelle Karen Mishcon to death Monday night before a neighbor attempted to break up the attack. When deputies arrived at the scene, they found Harrouff biting off the face of Stevens and had to employ a stun gun, a K-9 unit and manpower to separate him from the victim. Harrouff reportedly had no ties to the victims.
“When we see a case like this, when someone is biting off pieces of somebody’s face, could it be flakka, the answer is it absolutely could be flakka case, we don’t know,” Martin County Sheriff William Snyder said, according to CBS Miami.
Flakka drug use has been attributed to a number of crimes involving bizarre behavior in Florida in recent years. Harrouff reportedly began making animal sounds when deputies were transporting him to a local hospital.
