As the Bey-Hive worldwide continues to bask in the afterglow of Beyonce’s VMA performance Sunday night, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani continues to make it clear he’s no fan of the Queen Bey, her performances, and her political stance as a whole.
During a recent stop on Monday to Fox & Friends, Giuliani took Beyonce to task calling her fifteen minute performance anti-police, her imagery a “shame,” and asserted he’s saved more black lives than she has.
“I had five uncles who were police officers, two cousins who were, and one who died in the line of duty. I ran the largest and best police department in the world, the New York City Police Department,” Giuliani said. “I saved more black lives than any of those people you saw on stage by reducing crime, and particularly homicide, by 75 percent — of which maybe 4,000 or 5,000 were African American young people, who are all alive today because of the policies I put in effect that weren’t in effect for 35 years.”
“If you’re going to do that, then you also should symbolize why the police officers are in those neighborhoods, and what are you going to do about that? What are you doing about it?”
It is unlikely Beyonce, or her team, will respond to Giuliani’s claims. This isn’t the first time Mrs. Carter has found herself in the outspoke Republican’s crosshairs. Following her performance at the 2016 Super Bowl Guiliani critiqued the Oakland based, Black Panther inspired performance that called for an end to police violence against young black men.
