I am not sure if teams are even allowed to do this.
It would seem like if an offer came in that they would at least have to tell you what the offer was about and then the player would decide if he wants to take it or not.
With that being said Josh Norman has his suspicions of why the Panthers were holding out on him.
“They kind of shunned me,” he said. “They turned down a lot of stuff for me, interviews, sponsorship deals, stuff I didn’t even know about. They wanted it to be about the two main guys, Cam [Newton] and Luke [Kuechly].”
Without question Cam and Luke are the faces of the franchise, but once again did they deliberately withhold money-making opportunities from Norman?
Someone from the Panthers need to answer that question.
