Everybody who follows basketball knows that Kobe Bryant was a fearless competitor, in his 20 years in the NBA there’s probably not a player that comes close to doing what it take to win games more than Bryant. During the Jim Rome Show Bryant expressed that he’s happy for Kevin Durant on joining the Warriors. He also stated that a “true competitor” would welcome the challenge of the new look Warriors.
“As a competitor, I would have thought less about myself if I looked at that move and said ‘That’s unfair’,” Bryant said on “The Jim Rome Show” this week. “If you’re a real competitor, you look at that and say ‘OK, lace ’em up. Let’s go. I don’t care how many players you have over there, we’re still going to take you down.'”
Bryant has always been a fan of Russell Westbrook game in fact he said that Westbrook remind him of himself when he’s on the court. “When I turn on the TV and watch players play, the player who plays with the same kind of emotion and grit and competitive intensity is Russell,” Bryant said. “He’s going hard, doesn’t matter who’s playing against, doesn’t matter what the odds are … he’s going 110 percent every single time.”
Since Durant’s departure from OKC, Vegas odds shows that Westbrook is the favorite to win this year’s Most Valuable Player award. So if you think Westbrook played with a chip on his shoulder while Durant was there just imagine what he’s capable of this year now that OKC is officially his team. It’s going be something to look forward to this upcoming season, stay tuned.
