A member of President Obama’s motorcade has been assigned desk duty after he was heard making a threat on First Lady Michelle Obama’s life.
According to the New York Daily News the D.C. based cop, who’s name has not been made public, was speaking with other members of an elite Metro Police Department unit when he showed his peers a picture of a gun and said he would use it to shoot Michelle Obama. An officer, not a part of the discussion, overheard the conversation and reported the statement to the Secret Service.
“We received an allegation that inappropriate comments were made,” Washington police spokeswoman Gwendolyn Crump told the Daily News Thursday. “We are currently investigating the nature of those comments.”
The officer in question was previously a member of details that protected the First Family and foreign dignitaries. Why the officer is still employed and not imprisoned is uncertain. Threatening the life of the President is a felony. Shouldn’t the same protections be extended to the First Lady?
