For the past few months, Knicks fans have been left speculating as to why ex-coach Derek Fisher was fired so soon after signing a 5-year, $25 million deal.
Now, via NYDN Knicks reporter Stefan Bondy; a reason has come to light:

This sounds like Derek Fisher was focused on the day-to-day basketball quality while Phil Jackson was more concerned with facilitating a certain environment to breed results.
I’m not one to question a basketball encyclopedia such as Phil Jackson, but the Knicks lack of any sense of urgency seems to go hand-in-hand with Jackson’s bizarre plans.
The Matt Barnes saga doesn’t appear to have played a part.
