Rapper Troy Ave, real name Roland Collins, is facing attempted murder and firearm possession charges for his part in a shooting at TI concert back in May.
The aspiring rapper is now suing the venue for allowing firearms into the concert in the first place. Although Collins was seen on video firing at patrons after a gun battle broke out in VIP, his lawyer Scott Leemon insists the rapper is the victim and did not bring a firearm into the venue.
‘[If it weren’t] for their actions Troy never would have been shot, and none of the incidents that took place that night would have happened. He is the victim here. He did not bring a gun into this place, and we are seeking redress for the negligence.’
Collins maintains that Irving Plaza Concert Hall did not check people for weapons before allowing them inside the venue. According to the rapper, artists and guests were allowed in through a side entrance with no metal detector and no pat down.
Collins sustained gunshot wounds to his legs that police say are self-inflicted.
