Alabama freshman qb Blake Barnett will reportedly transfer from the #1 ranked and defending national champion Crimson Tide. According to Matt Zenith of Alabama.com, the redshirt freshman has officially left the program.
Barnett opened the season as the Tide’s starting qb and was the #2 rated pro style qb coming out of high school. On the second series of the opening game Barnett was pulled for freshman Jalen Hurts. Since that game Barnett has been the backup.
Maybe Barnett saw the writing on the wall. He’s had two springs on campus to get acclimated to Kiffin’s offense and couldn’t hold the starting spot. If a true freshman can come onto campus and take the job in week 1 the odds are you’re not going to play much. If Barnett wants a chance at a real college career and potentially the next level he has to play. Unfortunately for him it won’t be with Alabama. Stay tuned as there might be more to report.
