The majority of Kaepernick’s support comes from minorities in America and white people who are tired of ignorant white people making them look bad.
NEWSFLASH!!!!
Most of those people don’t like Donald Trump and barely tolerate Hillary Clinton, so Kaepernick saying what most people already are thinking isn’t going to hurt his support at all, it will probably will help it.
This USA Today article is looking at things in a view of either/or, when the reality most people are blah to both candidates.
After galvanizing support from athletes and civil rights leaders across the country, Colin Kaepernick is in danger of losing it.
NAACP president Cornell William Brooks and Rev. Jesse Jackson are among the civil rights leaders to have praised Kaepernick for his protest of racial inequality and police brutality. But they’ll have a harder time supporting the San Francisco 49ers quarterback after the incendiary comments about the presidential candidates, especially those directed at Clinton, who has strong support within the African-American community.
USA Today didn’t speak to Brooks or Jackson, but that is besides the point. This is something that white media sometimes don’t understand. Black people don’t really care what Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton or any hot button high-profile black person’s name you throw out there has to say. Just because Jesse Jackson may have a problem with it (I don’t know if he does) that doesn’t mean we are all going to jump ship on Kaepernick. Stop grouping black people and realize we are individuals that make our own decisions.
Kaepernick will never lose support because he isn’t backing a politician considering politicians haven’t done much to help black people for centuries.
Trump supporters were never going to support Kaepernick, black people who endorse Clinton are doing more it more because they dislike Trump or support President Obama.
This is a very shortsighted way of thinking from USA Today, instead of talking about Jesse Jackson go asks the kids who are using Kaepernick’s protest as a way to express their own fears about police brutality if they aren’t supporting him because he calls two white politicians liars (which they both are).
See what they have to say.
