Ex Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd turned himself in at the Greenville Police Department early this morning, according to Greenville Online. The one time college superstar was involved in an altercation at a local bar in July.
Boyd, 25 was charged with assault and battery, according to police documents. The report alleges Boyd pushed a bouncer in the chest on the night of July 14 outside of On the Roxx, located in downtown Greenville.
The alleged incident ensued after Boyd was told by the doorman that he would have to wait in line to gain access to the club. An argument started and the doorman told Boyd to leave. At this moment Boyd allegedly shoved the doorman in the chest causing the doorman to fly through the doorway and knockdown a female patron.
We can’t say for sure what happened. The doorman was an independent contractor hired by the establishment. On the Roxx has not and does not plan to file any charges against Boyd.
This seems like much to do about nothing. Maybe Boyd felt entitled not to wait online and got angry. Maybe the doorman instigated and provoked Boyd, and wanted to show he was in control.
Whatever the reason, it seems silly that adults can’t work out their differences in a healthier manner.
