Bernard Schirmer may never play a down of college football again after aggressively striking an official.
The Mount San Antonio College offensive lineman is accused of punching a referee on the field during Saturday night’s game against Ventura College in Ventura, California, according to a report by the Ventura County Star.
Ventura College football’s 34-29 win over visiting Mount San Antonio College was delayed for several minutes in the middle of the third quarter after a side judge was struck on the field.
The official, whose name was not released, was hit while walking Mt. SAC offensive lineman Bernard Schirmer back to his huddle after breaking up a verbal disagreement between opposing players.
Schirmer is a freshman offensive lineman from Lakewood High School, could face a five-year ban.
