Herbstreit’s initial tweet was a bit vague.
I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt that maybe he was saying that the message behind the Anthem gives people the freedom to speak on racial injustice.
Gotta say w/ what Kaepernick has started and a few other players have joined in on-it has only made me APPRECIATE the anthem that much more.

Sadly, his follow up tweets made his position very clear.
Here is another white media person who seems to not have a care in the world about the message the players are kneeling or raising their fists for.
They only care about how their beautiful white privilege society looks from their eyes.
I love my country. Don't agree with everything but the Anthem is a reminder of how thankful I am to live in America. https://t.co/UpSPg033os

Never said it it did. Just saying how I FEEL since at games during the Anthem. They can do what they want. https://t.co/P40OXqUEUQ

If Herbstreit loves this country as much as he says he does, he might have dropped some tweets on the MESSAGE that the players are trying to get out.
The police brutality, the racial injustice and the treatment of minorities, but he just loves the GOOD OLD USA just like it is and why wouldn’t he, when he is looked at he is seen as an All-American boy.
