The Knicks have all the right tools but it’s about piecing it all together and have the team work in harmony. During last night’s Opening Night against the Cavaliers, the Knicks looked lost when it came to defense.
The off season moves were enough to capture you but once you saw it on the court, you realize how much work is necessary. The Knicks are on a quest to claim a playoff spot and that’s pretty evident. However, the team’s chemistry looks way off and you can tell that with their defensive skills. They lost last night against the Cavaliers by a score of 117-88. During the post-game conference, players knew what the issue was and that’s their defense. Derrick Rose’s implication on the defense may come off as tad rough but it’s what perhaps might work. He’s about that contact.
Rose: “I’m not worried about the offense. It’s about defense with us.”
Carmelo Anthony: “I think more of our focus should be on defense now rather than offense.”
Noah: “We have to get better in every aspect of our defense. One-on-one coverage, talking, game plan, everything.”
The home opener is on Saturday October 29 against the Grizzlies and practice right now is what they dearly need. The home crowd is a tough one and they’ll be ready to boo at any second.
